The Netherlands is the export land for very diverse coasters (with tonnages of 2500 T to 10,000 T deadweight). AMW Marine fulfils an important role here with the supply of controllable pitch propeller installations and gear units for these ships.

In addition, we have continuous contact with the shipyards (and sometimes the engine supplier) to realise an optimum propulsion installation. For the most efficient propulsion, the optimum propeller diameter, the desired propeller rotational speed and hub type can be determined using the data from the tank test and the ship’s design.

AMW supplies gear units in various designs. Gear units with a horizontal and vertical offset can be supplied. We can also provide input shafts with hydraulic variable couplings. The gear units for coastal tankers are often fitted with a PTH (power take home). This system provides a ship with a powered-off main motor with a take home motor. In addition, we also design and supply fixed propellers up to a diameter of approx. 4000 mm for small coasters.
